Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for reforms to healthcare, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
